Information about the Provider

BroadVoice offers customers to bring their own devices into the network. Obviously they use the BroadWorks platform. There are one ore two tweaks that you need to consider to get the serice with BroadVoice working.

How to set up a trunk

The provider will provide you the account number and the password. A typical setup will look like this:

There are two things that you need to be careful about:

  • BroadVoice has a problem with UUID (RFC4122). You need to turn this off. We added this possibility in Version 1.5.1.2. See the hint in the discussion area for this page.
  • There seems to be some confusion about the outbound proxy. "proxy.nyc.broadvoice.com:5060" worked for us, but we also saw proposals like "proxy-nyc.broadvoice.com" which is the information provided by BroadVoice but isn't handled very well sometimes.

You dont need to specify a STUN server or a keep-alive time, because the SBC of BroadVoice will make sure that the PBX will keep the NAT binding alive (if it is behind NAT). There may be a very long delay (up to 45 seconds) for call completion.
