Cell Phone Integration
From Pbxnsip Wiki
Today’s telephony landscape is dominated by cell phones. The PBX addresses this fact by including the cell phone number as an important setting of every extension. The PBX offers the following functionality:
- When someone calls the extension directly, the PBX may also call the associated cell phone. This might happen after a user-definable timeout or immediately. The delay has the purpose to avoid over-usage of available channels if the user is next to one of the registered phones for that extension.
- When a new mailbox message arrives, the PBX may call the cell phone and read out the message. This is useful for persons who are on the road and who don’t want to miss new mailbox messages (e.g. sales persons).
- When the user calls from the cell phone into the companies auto attendant, the PBX offers a special menu to the caller (DISA = Direct Inward System Access). The user may directly place outbound calls or go to the mailbox, or just do a regular inbound call. To prevent abuse by caller-ID spoofing, the user must use the PIN code for authentication purposes.
- When a user calls from the cell phone and the called extension is busy or not answering, the PBX offers an automatic callback as soon as the extension becomes available again (camp on).
