Mediatrix 1102
The 1102 is a FXS adapter that supports T.38. This feature is important if you want to send or receive FAX without trouble when there is packet loss (e.g. over the Internet).
After the initial wrestling with the configuration tool, getting the 1102 working is relatively straightforward. Our feeling is that it is easier to use the web-based configuration interface. Once you are able to get the IP address, it is easy to set the necessary settings up. For the general configuration, check out the Mediatrix documentation.
Our recommendation is to use an outbound proxy. Then you can use a name like "localhost" or your domain name for the registrar and the proxy. This is necessary because the device will otherwise have trouble answering challenges from the PBX.
Once you have the devices registered, it should automatically detect T.38 and re-negotiate the media so that the T.38 transport is being chosen.
