We are pleased to announce we have created a pbxnsip attendant console (PAC) application that is used to monitor the extensions and trunks(Lines) of a pbxnsip system. The first version will show a tree view of the extensions and the lines. The future release would have the support for the agent groups, conference etc. The colors will change when there is a new call, and caller ID and length of time on the call will also be displayed. The console will use our button techology to update the fields. For more details on the button specification please visit http://wiki.pbxnsip.com/index.php/Buttons You can create multiple button groups i.e. sales, marketing, attendant, and then put the particular extensions and or trunks in that button group that you want the PAC client to monitor. Creating the PAC extensions does count towards the extension count on the license key. The extension then gets mapped to that particular button group in the configuration profile drop down in the registration tab of the extension configuration section. The following steps are required to configure the PAC on the pbxnsip system.

Contents

PBX Version

Most of the PBX versions have support for PAC. The screen shots used here are from PBX version 3. But version 2 also has support for PAC. Please checkout http://www.pbxnsip.com/software for different versions of PBX software.

Extension Setup

In order to monitor calls, you must register the PAC with an extension. You can do this with your own extension, or you can use another extension for this purpose.

Create a PAC (Example:600) extension in pbxnsip or any generic name since this is what the PAC client application will use to monitor the extensions. The PAC client registers to the pbxnsip system and then once registered it receives MESSAGE methods from the pbxnsip system with the various state changes. For this page we will create a sample that will monitor all the trunks and extensions of a domain.

Installing the PAC

PAC needs to be installed only once. First time, download the application from the web and install it. The application can be downloaded from http://www.pbxnsip.com/pac/publish.htm. PAC requires .NET 2.0 framework for proper functioning. The application will check for the newer versions, during the application launch every time.

If you have problems installing PAC using the above method, please download the latest PAC from http://www.pbxnsip.com/pac/latest.zip. After you download the zip file, extract it to a folder and execute the setup.exe file. If you have a previous version installed on the system, please uninstall before installing new one.

Once you click on the above link you will see the following image on your browser. Image:pac_install1.gif

Click on "Install". After .NET 2.0 framework is installed, you will be presented with following screen.

Click on "Install".

Once the application is installed you need to configure the IP address or domain name of the pbxnsip server, the PAC extension that was created above and the SIP password since the PAC registers to the system just like any other client or end point.

Click on "Save Settings and Restart". This should register the PAC with the PBX and display all the buttons that are associated with this extension. If you click on the "Messages" tab, you should see the information message about the registration.
